Hi guys,so which muds do u guys think that I should play I'm farely a newb to playing those,I've played AA for a little time though.There is some thing wrong with my jaws,so can't play it now.But hopefully til tammorrow or a day after that,will be good to go.I've never done anything much in any of the muds I've played,accept AA and that was with the help of my friend Giaa and raydon.I'm called tahadar in there.Would like to try new muds and make some friends.I don't like RPG emforceing muds,but well.

Miriani, project bob, and I've heard discworld is good but haven't tried it. Miriani and project bob are two of my favorites though.
I've tryed Miriani,but well couldn't find the ATM on the landing pad.

Oh alexander, if you're still playing miriani, and you can't find the ATM on the landing pad, map atm is the greatest thing ever, the map command is a great help if you're lost.

hmmm, everytime i see your name on the list of players, it reminds me of harry potter. when there sorting in to houses, i think one of the people that owned 1 of the houses had an identical name.

I'm Blake Madison on their, but I'm most likely going to delete my player. I just don't get on anymore, and things on their just don't give me as much enjoyment as they used to. Which makes me wonder why I posted this.

I love helping people out, teaching them combat and answering questions... btw, I know a guy who can only type with one hand and is looking for suggestions on how to improve his combat, I think he's gonna ask the hosts if he can do some kind of script, but he needs ideas.

I get on miriani some, its just not as cool to me anymore. I like sc classic but didnt play it before. Kinda started out on alter aeon then went to miriani now ya find me on aardwolf they have this really neat feature of runto and a zone name. that and there are hundreds yes hundreds of people on at a time aardmud.org port 4000 also looking in to realmz of insanity at frankenpuke.com port 4005 dont ask, they did that addy not me! but yeah on roi i am talima aardwolf talima and jenni used to play hellmoo if ya dont like sexual graphic stuff or graphic violence i wouldnt i found it disgusting after a while. may check out some of the stuff here. I didnt like the new sc time of darkness is another good one. topmudsites.com and mudconnect.com are great resources for looking for muds. I really use monkeyterm for muds with sound packs or muds where i cant figure out how to put a carriage return after the prompt other than that i use mushclient for aardwolf if ya use mushclient it will give you two qp per quest for using compression which btw is great so yeah if ya get on aardwolf or roi look me up for help one char on aard is level 94 so yeah.

i have a question for you about ardwolf.
after you've done all the lessons at the academy place it says to graduate you have to do a certain number of quests. i found the quest master, but he always tells me that i am brave, but someone else is having one. if i never get to go, is there something else i can do, like an area i can go to kill things until the quest may work?

Also, did anything exciting happen for christmas on either miriani or sc?

Posted my goodby message in ooc/general, and cala enjoy that 100 mil. I might take Michael Shadowblade's advice and ask the hosts not to purge me, but I am not sure right now.
I played Miriani for a while, about a year ago, liked it kind of. tried it this year, gave up after about a week. the player base on there is the most unhelpful i've ever seen. I'm going to try out aardwolf too, but i'm on hell mostly now, and really, once you get in to it, its not as bad as people make out. yeah you get the griefers, but that's usually one or 2 corperations who everyone hates anyway. i've found a lot of helpful people there, but maybe that's just me? I dfind it very, very amusing. yeah its sick, but personally i'm not bothered. its so true of the real world in many cases.
Miriani players are jackasses some of them. I try to be helpful, even if you ask an in character question on newby, I never say anything really about taking it to chatter. The way it is now, if I was a newby, I would be turned off by miriani.
Miriani is trying to be made better by the hosts, they are constantly putting new stuff in now, balancing and making it better. I'd imagine that the ships and stuff will get rebalanced so if your being treated like shit by the shadowblades just hang on it will get better.
I don't think it's just the shadowblades they are talking about here, sure they're a group of people, but there are other people, others who when they choose to can be just as bad if not worse. You have to understand though with each game there are the bad guys, and at the moment the shadowblades just happen to be the bad guys in question, if you guys don't like what the shadowblades are doing, take them down, get together and figure out something... every other pirate faction/group has gone down in some way shape or faction, so there you go.
mmmm the blades for shortcut,they aren't all bad,and yeah,there are a very few people there who help.All I'll say though,how ever great the game may be,it wont have many players slowly and slowly,first as I have herd,there use to be 100,of guys around,but well all the highest number it gets on sundays is 40 or 50.And that too no new players all the old once just hanging out.The new players can't play the game,or enjoy it fully,ok for 2 or 3 days you have that newbie tag,but after that?any player who has played for years will come and blow you up.You can't get good at gunning,or flying in 3 days,as compaired to the player who has an exp of 2 or 3,or lets say even 2 months.Yeah,Yeah its different an all,but well,the rules needs changeing,and ok,ok its like a reale world.Like anyone can steel things from you,but what I say,where are the cops?thiefs?they are there,but cops?like we could go and report to the cops,hmm,they could be the highguard.IE: if the blades clan,are attacking me and my friends,we could all go and report it,and if unother report comes in say,erm 5 days,the highguard would take acction?that would make the game more balanced.But well I'm board of it anyway,so I'll give it a try for a few days,and then leave.
The part I fail to understand is why people don't take the time to learn things that will make them better though. I might be an asshole on there now but just like everyone else I was at one point a newbie. I was blown up for the first time about 1 or 2 days after losing my newbie tag by Matt and Luke who were interested in having me pay them money. Haha, I was asked for 50 mill. I didn't have 50 mill I don't think I even had 20 mill at the time, but in any case instead of whining about it I learned to get better and these days I'd love to see someone blow me up. As for stunning players who just lost their newbie tags unless I'm talked shit about or attacked first I tend to leave players who just started alone. I've also cut down on my blowing up of asteroid haulers and for that matter I think I have at the most 4 asteroid haulers on my bc records compared to my old one which had about 8 or so and my gunship records that had more like 20 or 25 of them. But anyhow I've reached a point where Miriani is so full of whiners and people who just don't try to get better that I just don't bother waking up very much anymore. So soon it'll be a playground for the whiners because I know most older people like me just don't care anymore.
to the person that said not all shadowblades are nasty, that's true enough.
i know at least 1 member of the shadowblades that helped me and my friends out.
to post 43, i also too have now left miriani. mainly because of 3 people on there who simply wouldn't shut up, well... make that 4... i'm counting the times i had rude comments directed at me with no reason.
as for miriani's future?. there's a couple of nice people left, not many though.
people like the calderen's, orlando and mia (can never spell there second name), julio ironstar.... those are all the nice people. yeah steve westbrook, but he never got the credit he deserved.
i'd make a whole list if i mentioned all the winers on the game, but i'll just mention a few.
the shadowblades, sure they are nasty and strand and stuff... but when you think about it?. they were also new at one point, and i learnt before i left that they hate being stunned. jack bradford managed to find a sleeping shadowblade on the lp and stun him and strand him... he hated it.
then you got seph rush... or what ever he is called now. he's childish.
john joseph, lia patterson and kelly james, all eppic failiures. as far as i know kelly and john even left.

as for alexander voltress, i really hope he does well in the game. i remember when i payed him 100 mil to get me back the expediter, and true to his word, he did that. i have admaration for people like him.
Maybe someone should start a thread on ooc/suggestoins/ideas about what they think the hosts should to to make miriani better because I know for a fact they want to do just that. They don't like seeing people leave so someone start a thread about what they wanna see changed, and actual suggestions of how to do it.
I agree with Ghost. That is the other reason I left, was because of all of the whiners on that game. I got blown up, I learned how to deal with it, and these newbies can too, if they just take the time too. The problem is, that most of them don't preferring to just complain about it because everyone isn't treating them with full respect.

I'd recomend, once you have gotten good at flying around, start going on missions with people, or start working in the simulator, and try to get good against the combat drones so you can do solos. Or asteroid haul. I have decided not to delete, but keep my character alive. I don't think I'll be logging in much, but I will definitly try. Your right in the fact that its not like all the hack 'n slash muds which is why I like it. Granted, now their are a huge amount of miriani knockoff ones everywhere, but nothing beats the original. Well, maybe project bob, but that's just my opinion.
i love new worlds, but it is a very big rpg. if you don't like rpgs you may not like it.
ok, for folks on aardwolf type help quests, if it says you cant go on a quest its because you have to wait thirty minutes to go on a quest. I recommend going to the orchard with runto orchard from recall. there is a goal there. when you get there type goals here. its there term for area quests. katsa is my current alt. she is lvl sixteen almost so once ya get to say level five let me know i will lead ya around and help ya get exp out the butt.
also i am looking for muds with very restrictive pk or no pk
sorry, but going on a quest every 30 minits is just lame!. surely if you finish a quest, you should just be able to go on another one.

hmmm... yeah miriani sure is diffrent. what's good about it is the effert and the constant updating of the game.
as i said before, new worlds is stupid. i couldn't even get past imigrant level. i want to consontrate more on hell moo and avatar, though with avatar you kind of have to be with someone anyway.
i have also played valhalla, great game... but like most other muds, it fails to keep people interested.

I've heard nothing but good things about discworld, and Jeremy and Tyler Littlefield said they'd help me out if I join up, so once I get 7 back on my lattitude, I think I'll give that a shot.
aard has an odd quest system, take a campaign while ya quest sit, or go level a crap load. thats what i did. if ya do a quest go find an easy goal aka area quest like in the orchard. once ya get to say level ten take your first campaign i did a few, it wasnt all bad. they get harder as ya level though i will warn ya. good luck once ya get to say level 11 lemme know, i will help ya out more.

I personally don't see how anyone can play hell moo and still call themselves humane. However that's probably just me and my interesting views on things, and I understand not everyone's ideas about this particular mud aren't the same as mine, even if the ideas behind this mud agrevate me. But I guess everyone has their muds that they despise for different reasons, so carry on, this is just a rant I felt I had to post in reference to the topic.

Hey, I've recently been introduced to Miriani, I generally find people unhelpful on there and I have the client monkey term.
However I'm trying to register with another MUD. I'm having problems in connecting to the MUD do I have to use my current client somehow to connect to the new MUD? Sounds complicated, but I'm sure its not to you guys out there! If someone can help, I'll appreciate it.

You should just be able to press new connection, and enter the details of the mud into the box that comes up.
Ah that sounds good to me. So on monkey term, click on new connection and what would i need to type in the boxes? Even though monkey term is linked with miriani, it will also work with another MUD or would i need to delete miriani first? Thanks
no, it will work with other muds. I think it is connecting to the other mud, but jaws isn't reading what is on the screen. I'm not sure how to fix this, apart from connecting to miriani, disconnecting from it, and then pressing f4, typing in the information, and pressing enter. Monkeyterm won't save that session though, since its still under the miriani.xml file, so if you close out MT, and re-open it and load the miriani.xml file, it will load up miriani, not the other mud you typed in.
Ok, that didn't work for some reason, the edge of midnight MUD team told me to download MUS client, is that helpful, but even that's not working for me. AARG, what to do?

hmmm... so after 2 months of disappearing from here, i'm currently on aardwolf alot and my name is hathron incase anyone wants to give me a shout. i'm now on mordor mud too, which is alright, not the best, but its the best LOTR mud i've found so far. also, anyone know a decent star wars one? ROTJ is alright, but leveling takes stupidly long after like lvl 10.

is alter eon the one with the portal and you enter the portal and stuff, i think it is but not sure. couldn't quite get that, but need to see if i can still log in and maybe get help
A pretty good starwars mud is SWMud
I had a level 47 High Mortal Mercenary on there, but I commited suicide, so it's back to noobhood for me. Not as active as I used to be though, but I liked it.

Materia Magica is fairly good if you ask me. I like swords and sorcery though, so stuff like Miriani's not gonna do much for me.
If you want a sort of mishmash, try the Unofficial Squaresoft MUD. If you're a Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger fan, you'll just about die! The writing isn't exactly top-notch and grinding can be dull, but there are missions and quests - more than just your typical autorun quests as found in other MUDs too! - and the result is rather immersive.
As for Aardwolf, I have one extremely serious gripe with it. The newbie school makes me think it'll be a fairly swords-and-sorcery type game, and then they go and have an area like the amusement park? And bad writing as found in the quest where you first have to kill a mice and then spider? Uh...no, just no. Aardwolf may be popular, but quite frankly I just don't see why; it seems very slapped-together - a fault I also find to some extent in Alter Aeon, though it's a bit more stable and balanced - and just doesn't appeal.
On that note, can anyone recommend other fantasy-type MUDs that don't utterly enforce roleplay? I want something that contains some sort of story and real quests I can do on my own, not just immortal-run quests or your typical bog-standard auto-quest "kill this enemy out of a random list and get some quest points" kind of thing. Good writing is a plus, but not required. Moreover, cohesiveness is a huge must; I don't want a MUD that claims to be original and then throws me a direct Tolkien ripoff next door to a Star Wars world without an insanely good reason.
Any help or advice is most definitely appreciated, by the way...and thanks for reading.

chaaarge miriani! joined 12 days ago and am coming along quite nicely. i'm keyra lang on there. my ships are all the dragon themed ones, the roid hauler dragonclaw, and my fraetor dragoneye. currently wanting an expiditer at the moment, so that's what i'm saving for... but i do have enough to get a destroyer, just won't cuz it'll take forever to upgrade..
and i can't fly for beens had two fighters, unupgraded, and they all blew up, one by some dude in a destroyer while i was deweling a cargo hauler, mehh, and then me wanting to try a solo fighter easy mission, right hit the buggies a few times, but got blown up in the end.

Heya.Well if you have enough points for a destroyer,I suppose that you can gun nicely?If its yes,then practice a bit in a sim to fly 4 2 6 8,or 4 and 6 will do ok.practice to fly that way,and gun and repair.You'll do well with a upgraded fighter then a unupgraded one.And get that soundpack from the Miriani soundpack boards,it might help you a bit.Hope that helps,if you have any questions on doing solos,ask here or if you see me online,message me.
i got a mostly upgraded one, sigh, i flew 4 6 but it got to the point where i kept running back and forth to rep then i went back in, and it was taking forever, it would of taken forever to repair, i had hull upgraded, lasers, rep drones, i needed to probably get the rel upgrade and the rep rate might make it better, maybe... or maybe not.. wonder if laser reflecters work on praelor...
nope.well you need to be fast and don't stop flying any time in the mission.go 4 scan lock, go 6 las should work.

Another good mud to look in to is calledachaea dreams of divine lands made by iron realms.

It's got some of it's ideas from godwars II and other such muds, meaning the combat is manual 100%. You can rebuild and what not as often as you like (after you get your 30 advancement points). Guilds are in now, and there is a guild for blind people, started by me. The crafting system is highly immersive and requires a lot of time and effort, as well as player colaboration.

to the poster who asked about lazer relfecters in marriani, yes they work on praelor. As for fighting praelor you never stop flying at all. If you can repair as you are fighting. If you have to run go to 20 15 10 if your very badly damaged. Just some helpful advice. I am Zeel ley on marriani.
I heard people mentioning how much how they haet the PVPers dominating Miriani. with Star conquests' new space system (for modern star conquest not classic) there are places where it will be virtually impossible for anyone to fight PVP. the space defenses will blast you to oblivion. Whereas in other spots on Star conquest with lower security levels you can PVP to your heart's content.
I've also been told by other people that they don't like the point caps on SC. the truth be told, if you do play eventually it will be impossible to hit your point cap constantly. Added to that, if you are hitting your point cap, then...well, you might need to look into investing in a life. they put up stats, and I think less than 1% of all registered players are actually at their point caps. anyway, a new plot arc will be opening with SC modern by the end of the month with the launch of the space system which happened last weekend.

pvp on miriani does suck, but so does the fact that you can get stunned for no reason when you have done nothing to piss people off, they say pirates are a part of the game, like stuff like this is a part of life, but, there is also police who stop people like this... mehh, good game but with a lot that can be expanded on like ground combat, the usefullness of med drones, and other things... hmm. bored i am i am at the moment.. salvaging makes my brain rot, sometimes... lol

that's what Star conquest is trying to tell you. some of the high security areas are policed. If you do anything there, they will own you. At the same time though, if you're interested in blasting one another to kingdom come, you can go to the lower security areas where they don't care if you PVP to your heart's content. The point is, you can avoid PVP if you very much want now, and just do your own thing.
I gave sc a try just because I was board,but well I am used to the miriani soundpack,so if there was a soundpack for it too,I might play it.
Hi, it's Joe. I love rpgs, but i don't like just autoquesting and grinding, I would love a mud with a deep ritch story and many ways to flush it's plot line. I tried aa, that's like the beginner one, I also tried ardwolf and materia, but I thought they were too long to get into, and I did try them each for a few full days.

I need to go back on sc modern since I got purged. It'll give me a chance to play mutuality though, I'm just dreading writing the profile since it has to be more in depth or what have you. I just started playing miriani again but I don't know how long I will play for and how long I'll stay active and what not but for now I'm playing again. For those who don't know I'm casandra voltrace. as for alter aeon I have two characters on there and I kinda like parts of it. It can get boring pretty quick but I do like questing though I won't lie some of the quests I can't figure out for the life of me. Speaking of quests, Malph, on sw mud I don't know about many quests on there and a lot of stuff I can't seem to figure out, for example how to do the first aid quest, have you any tips for me? Also, what are some tips for a newbie pilot if you have any. I had another character that was a level 19 slicer but I could never figure out where to get droid CPU's and other parts other than the rebel donation place.
I've tried the night, and could never get into it. Plus, no one was ever on it. What n the world are you supposed to do in the game?
In the past year, I have been getting in to mudding more and more. I've played Miriani several times, many characters such as, Baily Coldstar, Dredgic Pain, and Dustin Haust. Laightly however, I have been enjoying SC, though the soundpack ain't up to par with Miriani sadly. But, The feel for the game as a hole has been a rather enticing expeerience, and I look forward to waisting more and more of my time with it.
However, in the past few days, I been playing Hellmoo, and suffice it to say, despite the complex nature of the world, it's really fun. My only problem with it, is the lack of newbie help. They have pages and pages of help files, but your up shit's creak with out a pattle if you want player interaction.
But, all that aside, I'm getting the hang of it slowly, and it is a good game, I just wish the newbie interaction was more thought out, and not just left to the help files.
However, the particular reason I'm posting, is because I'm looking for a good Star Wars MUD. I've seen a few, but most of them are either dead,, or just downright not accessible. If any of you great nerds after my own heart could point a fellow geek in the right dirrection, I would greatly appriciate it.

Oe, and one more small thing. As mintioned in the last post, I am playing Hellmoo right now, if anyone else from here is playing it, could I please get some general assistance? I have a character mad, grown, and weapons perchiced, but I have no idea where I should go to learn new skills, and work on the ones I got now. I've asked a few times via the Chatnet and Tradenet, but As mintioned earlyer, They lack in Newbie assistance.

We've got some damn strong people in their who are always willing to help out. If you need help, I'd suggest talking to blindndangerous, shaka, striker and Bronstal.

the-night is slow at first. you have to get yourself into rp to keep it interesting. I play a doctor, and a artist, and my artist is going to take up socialwork.
I have created a MUD object oriented not sure if this is for only straight-up MUD or for MU* games. It's a space based one. Check out it's own thread in the forums for more info.
